TEACHING STATEMENT
My pedagogical philosophy mirrors my community-based research ethos; I build spaces of knowledge exchange and growth by empowering students to explore marginalized perspectives and identities by critical engaging with their world. To do this I encourage students to challenge norms by delving into grounded, hands-on learning, namely through socially-engaged participatory and multi-disciplinary experiences. This approach seeks to integrate theory with praxis by collaboratively developing a nurturing and transformative learning environment that equips students with the tools to create meaningful change. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire students to become compassionate and informed advocates/accomplices. I work to emulate this in my own activism/scholarship.
